Artisan Brewing, a boutique craft brewery from Denmark, took out top honours
as the winner of the 2017 “South West Beer of the Year” Award for their collaboration ale, “Tripel Treating – A Belgian in Mango Land” at the recently held 2017 South West Craft Beer Festival in Busselton.
Fellow collaboration partners of this multi-award winning ale were Cellarbrations Superstore in Hamilton Hill, and The Monk Brewery and Kitchen in Fremantle, who assisted in the design, brewing and packaging. This special ale was fermented with 20 kilos of fresh mangos and raspberries in a batch of Belgian-style Tripel, resulting in a rich and
smooth 10.6% beauty! It is decanted like a fine Champagne “Sur lie” and can be cellared and enjoyed for many years.
This was Artisan's first beer at the festival to be judged by an expert panel of six judges, including the award sponsor, Steve Clarke of Boilertronics. “Tripel Treating: A Belgian in Mango Land” is Artisan's first commercially packaged beer in Champagne bottles
released in December 2016 after six months of tank and bottle conditioning. Furthermore, it made Crafty Pint's Best New WA Beers of 2016 and enjoys a very high rating on Untappd.com.
This rare limited-release ale is available at the finest craft beer retail outlets in the Perth, Great Southern, and the Southwest regions. Only 750 bottles were produced. Brian
and Julia Fitzgerald accepted the award on behalf of their collaboration partners and said, “We couldn't be prouder as this is our first year to be judged and to take out top honours on our first packaged product was indeed a true honour!”. “We also couldn't have this kind of success without the generous Boston Brewery in Denmark where we brew our Belgian inspired ales.”
