Artisan Brewing closes in on top awards at 2017 Perth Royal Beer Show

Artisan Brewing, hailing from Denmark, WA, entered just seven beers from their autumn and winter beer collection and come home with seven medals at the recent 2017 Perth Royal Beer Show (PRBS) Awards on June 30, 2017, which attracted over 600 entries.

Artisan calls itself as "The biggest small brewer that you've probably never heard of". They are big in their beer styles and awards, but small in their batch size and total production. Brewing Belgian inspired single batch ales that showcase White Labs Yeast strains, they received 3 gold medals, 1 silver, and 3 bronze medals and tied for second place for Best West Australian Brewery and Best Commercial Brewery and third place for Best Commercial Beer of Show with their Barrel Aged Imperial Flanders Brown.

Brian Fitzgerald, head brewer and director said "Our best placing beer for the trophies was our Barrel Aged Imperial Flanders Brown. A dark strong Belgian-style ale brewed in February 2016, that was aged in Harewood Estate's pinot and shiraz barrels for over a year to increase the special character of this ale. It took 18 months to mature to perfection for the show and for a 9% beer it's extremely drinkable! Only a few kegs remain in museum stock, and these will be reserved for special events and dinners in the near future."

Furthermore, their highly coveted Tripel Treating: A Belgian in Mango Land, a collaboration beer made with The Monk and Cellarbrations Superstore grabbed another gold medal at the PRBS, just after picking up one at this years prestigious Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA) in Victoria.

Julia Fitzgerald, co-brewer and co-director said "We're so thrilled with these results especially to be in the same company as much larger brewers like Feral. It's an exciting time for us since we've being only brewing commercially for two and a half years. We currently enjoy the highest rating in WA so we think we're on to something special. We've are looking forward to fulfilling high demand from our “cult“ following

and we certainly couldn't do it without the continued support of Boston Brewing.
